I think that when I'm thirty (shucks wanted to say twenty then realised im turning 20 this year(!)..how old sounding.) and having(possibly) my own family, I'll still be keeping in touch with my high school friends.

All my friends from form 1-form 5 and a few from taylor's college and primary skul.

Cos you know what?

Uni frens just "cant seem to make it" (singlish..lol). There's like a barrier in between..or the walls of friendship are thin that a tiny tiny misunderstanding will just crumble the whole thing. In other words, there's not enough trust.

*shakes head*

I wish that I can teleport myself to KL right now! now now now hmph. Or maybe have a super smart double to do all my upcoming tests and ace them and then i'll be like at the top of the bell curve! *grins*
Just when things are starting to settle down and I think that I still have a lonnngggg way to go (a month) before the finals start,

Prof from human anatomy lab: All the best for your CA (test) NEXT THURSDAY (eek!)
Prof from biodiversity: All the best for your CA on April 3rd (double eek!)
Prof from Biochemistry: Good luck for your CA NEXT FRIDAY (AAGHH! *faints*)

And then Kang decides to dump me all alone here for one whole week while he takes a self-declared ONE WEEK holiday to go back to msia ( thank you eu harn for encouraging him to do this, you know what you owe me! *glares*)

Eesh.

And now I have to do a term paper for the Introduction to Nanoworld which is like 30 pages!!!

%$@!#

Eesh. Now to do laundry.

Hmm i dunno bout you, but this new GM glow in the dark mosquitoe to eradicate malaria seems a bit creepy.

It has twice the survival rate of its normal counterparts, and can breed twice as much too, meaning that the population of mosquitoes will hence double once this GM mosquitoe takes over the normal Anopheles spesies of mosquitoes.

Glow in the dark?! How would you feel if you switched off the lights and see 2 glow in the dark stuff flying around? I suppose that would make them easier to swat >.<

And I suppose its a very good way to eradicate malaria..if nothing goes wrong.

But somehow its like interfering with evolution and the normal life cycle and food pyramid etc.

Hmm.

WISHLIST

I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT THIS BOOK!!! But currently the price of the hardcover version is at RM 69.90..kinda depressing. Can hardly wait for the paperback version to come out :)

I heart shopaholic novels :D Yay.
Everytime i go back HOME and unwillingly drag myself back to this depressing country, I'm overcome by an intense feeling of homesick-ness and loneliness. :(

Then it lasts for a few days and I start to become numb to the feeling -- until the next return and the next dragging myself back, where the feeling is triggered all over again.

Funny thing is, no one else seems to be as affected as I am while travelling back and forth. Hrm.

Yes I'm rather emotional :P And yes my mind always wanders and think of extreme stuff which can be quite depressing. :P

So now I'm back here again (sigh), I had the opportunity to meet up with Chris (Lim) yesterday :)

As I've mentioned in previous posts, it's really great to catch up with old frens, especially with a close fren such as Chris.

We met at Orchard (where Kang n I had a yummy sakae sushi lunch..yum) before heading off to Bugis. Bugis is this place with a market which looks like petaling street...but of cos i still prefer the ACTUAL night markets at home. Soo much better and so much more variety in the stuff that they sell. We saw this fella sitting on the floor with 3 snakes lying obediently (motionless except for a few minor slinky-segment movement) in front of him, and he started boasting about how snake oil, if applied onto the proper areas, can ward off athritis. Hmmm. Quite a number of ppl bought the snake oil from him.

Anyway chris, if you do read this post, good luck for your uni applications :) I'm sure u'll get what you want hehehe. Remember to keep me updated k? Was really great seeing you again :)
*pokes affectionately*

Take care everyone!

Tell you what, I liked it better back then.

I can't help but feel that you're missing a major point here.

Thank you for spoiling my whole night.

Tuesday, March 06, 2007

You know, next time if there's an earthquake in the middle of the night, I probably wouldn't know it until its too late.

This morning 2 earthquakes struck Sumatra, apparently it was felt pretty big in Singapore, where ppl were evacuated from the buildings and so forth. The 1st earthquake was about 10.50 am.

And what was i doing then?

I was happily munching on my lunch in my room listening to music and reading my novel. Nope I din feel any tremor or swaying.

I remember last year(or last last year) there was another earthquake in Indon, and ppl in kl districts felt it too and came running out of the buildings. I din feel anything too!!!

So next time if any earthquakes occur and its absolutely necessary to evacuate the buildings...someone inform me yeah. Hehe.
Whoohoo!!

Midterms and quizzes all over yeah :)

Going back to Msia for a short trip this Thurs!

Oh yeah :) Life is great!

CNY 2007

Needless to say, this CNY was again well spent with family and relatives :)

I love going back to Swak now and mix around with all my dear wonderful cuzzies :D
Fireworks makes it all the more festive! :D

I had so much fun during the 5 days there. Was kinda sad to go back to KL. I always hate saying goodbyes.

Which makes me wonder, will things be the same ten years from now? Will we all still flock back for reunion dinner every year? Will everyone still be here? It's these depressing thoughts that swarms you when you say goodbye.

So I went back to KL. I went pasar-malam and morning market crazy!! I craved to drink the black sesame dessert lol :P But due to CNY season, the dessert stalls at the night markets and morning markets all werent open!!!! :(

Potong steam sial. Hmph.

Then Sunday came. I really wasnt ready to go back to Singapore then. I REALLY REALLY DIN WANNA GO BACK. hmph. So i burned 60 ringgit by not taking the bus back! :P I went back on Monday instead bleh. Sunday night met up with CJ You Bing Zhimin TJ Jia Wei Jeng Sia, altho it was a brief meet, it's really great to meet up with old frens and feel that warm friendly ambience which you rarely get here in Sg. Bah.

So now I'm back here..I had a hellish week. 4 tests which i barely studied for. So basically everyday I was busy cramming for the test on the next day. The friday test, today's one..was bad :( BAD BAD BAD. HORRIBLE. And the worst part is I noe how to do it. The question was SO SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!! I MEMANG NOE HOW TO DO ONE!!!! Geramnya. My brain was too taxed out. Sigh. SUmmore i woke up at 5am to study.

Sucks.

I want to go home. Suddenly Monash and Nottingham Msia and IMU and MU seem wonderful unis :P I def wont mind studying there :P Or at HELP actually. Then I will be damn relaxed and can watch series everyday!!!! Right Cj? :P:P:P

Lol.

Recently, I stumbled upon this blog called loopymeals. Click it from Darell's blog! (Cos im too lazy to put the link here lol)

You know, its so unfair that gals have to be the one suffering during pregnancy.

They have to vomit everyday, puke every morning, get damn uncomfy, get damn lot of mood swings, and then experience excruciating pain during childbirth.

You know, guys should have their own babies.

Then I'll be the one standing beside and taking videos and giving encouraging comments and going *GaspGasp* I'm going to be a parent!!!!!!! *Faints*

Guys can be the one dying.

Heh!

Only Four Days left till I get back and see you.

Till I get to hold you again and take good care of you.

Till I get to look into your darling cute eyes and see you look up at me inquisitively.

Till I feed you sticks of nutritious healthy food +a variety of scrumptious fruits.

We've been separated for one month and 2 weeks.

You've fought it for one month and 3 weeks.

Why couldnt you wait for another 4 or 5 more days?

Why did you have to go? :((((

Perhaps deep in my heart I knew it when I bade you farewell 1 month and 2 weeks ago.

When I carefully wrapped you in tissue and watched you close your darling eyes and sleep peacefully while undertaking the 5 hour journey back home.

Deep inside, I knew that I wouldnt see you again.

But I also believed that you could overcome this deadly disease.

You did fight it, like a warrior. You're so strong and brave and tough.

Your death was so swift and sudden.

I'm so sorry my dear darling terrapin. Perhaps if I left you here in Singapore with me you would still be alive.

Who knows? :((

Rest in peace darling.

Presenting...

Ahahaha. I heart Robert Ludlum's Covert-One series XD.

There was this stall in the bazaar in NUS that was selling SUPER CHEAP 2nd hand books. 3 books for S$5, damn cheap~! *Sighs in contentment*

I bought this brand new Robert Ludlum book for S$5.90. Ah Bliss :)

Today I had the BORINGEST practical ever. PLANTS practical. I can tolerate plants but omg three whole hours of it? My brain seriously went pfft.

There were 10 stations where each station was a different kingdom - algae, fungi, lichens, ferns, angiosperms, gymnosperms and dunno wtv else lah. By the 4th station my brain oso half shut down already. Cannot tahan man. Should have just followed a friend, take attendance then leave the lab. lol.

Thursday, February 08, 2007

PLANTS ARE SO BORING.

Or rather, BIODIVERSITY IS SO BORING.

Ascomycetes. Basidiomycetes. zygomycetes. chytridiomycetes.

All in the fungi kingdom. kingdom or domain? I dunno.

wth!!!! who came up with all these complicated names!!

zzzz *falls asleep*

Nostalgia

Everyday before I sleep, my mind starts to drift. I see my past flashing before my eyes ( maybe this is wat ppl see before they die too lol ), but wat I glimpse is somebody that was once a very super good fren of mine. Then I suddenly remember the times in secondary skul and college. How we sat together in f1 and u would lend me ure pilot g-1 pen, sports day, merentas desa, how we squiggled smileys on each other's paper, joked bout all the teachers, had secret codes when we called each other up.

Ahahaha. Is this going to be another emo post? I dunno why my mind keeps drifting back :) Prob cos I treasure my frens so much :P

Lets see. I rmbed christopher, sing ping, jia xin, allan, chang jin, jess, harold, hui ying, joel, phang kit, and who know who im going to rmb today haha.

And during classes when I start drawing smileys on my paper I remember jia xin the most.

Sometimes I wish that I could go back to the past. Or maybe if the world wasnt so big, everyone would still be together. Haha.

1st Field Trip

For my first biodiversity field trip, we went to the kent ridge road which is in the NUS area. The road kinda reminds me of Kiara actually, cos its flanked by a secondary forest beside it.

Overall it was quite fun, where we learnt how to differentiate figs, pitcher plants..etc. But i'm not a plant person haha. Plants arent really in my field of interest. I hope that I can quickly finish this biodiversity module and never take anymore plants modules. Bleh.

The Raffles Musuem of Biodiversity Research was kinda interesting tho. There was a display of real fossils, but not much. We saw stuffed animals...dead animals preserved in formalin, and right up front was a display of the replica of a dodo.

For those who dont know wat a dodo is, well you wont have the chance to see it on the streets or forests anymore cos its an extinct bird. It's sort of a mix between a bird and a turkey. And yea, it can't fly.

What hit me in the musuem was that the future generation might not even get the chance to see animals that are common to us. So many species are now at the brink of extinction. One example is the panda bear. Who knows, animals in the future could be defined as stuffed toys that are displayed in museums.

Which reminds me of global warming. And Bird Flu. And who knows SARS might pop up again. To quote my biochem professor who once taught in Harvard and is a member of the WHO : " We're just waiting for the bird flu to clear up the whole world. Those that survives will form the next new generation."

Scary, and might sound satrical to you, but still, there is a possibility of that happening.

So if today was ure last day on Earth, what would you be doing? Would you like what you are spending your time on?

*deep in thought*

ANYWAY. I want to gripe a bit :P Our teaching assistant for the biodiversity field trip was a japanese. So her language wasnt that awesome, and she got some facts wrong too. Who knows after the trip there's a mcq quiz. Thanks to her wrong facts i got 1 out of 5 correct. *stares daggers*

Gram Negative Bacteria.

Many species of this stupid gram -ve bacteria are pathogenic, meaning they can cause disease in a host organism. This pathogenic capability is usually associated with certain components of Gram-negative cell walls, in particular the lipopolysaccharide (also known as LPS or endotoxin) layer.

Well. One of my cute baby terrapins have succumbed after a one month long courageous fight for its life. In the end the stupid bacteria caused more than one disease, including soft shell, swollen eyes, respiratory tract diseases, and skin diseases. You stupid bacteria.

One day im going to devise this drug to penetrate that stupid lipid bilayer membrane of yours and kill all of you off.

My dear darling terrapin, may you rest in peace. I'll always love you.

I really am very super lucky and blessed.

When I asked for a type B room (with sink), there was a space for me in PGPR, one of the residences at the university. Who would know that a girl living opposite me is also in Life Science and doing 3 modules that are the same as mine? Who would predict that we would start going out together for shopping trips and going around campus together? Who would know that I would fit so easily into her group of friends?

:D

Haha. Yay. :D

Wednesday, January 24, 2007

Dear Friend.

Even though we're so far apart now,

Do you still think of me once in a while?
Are you still reminded of me occasionally?
Do you remember..
How we swam together in kindergarden?
How you wrote a note to me in standard one?
How we converted our pencilboxes into houses in class during primary school?
How we spent every recess together?
The time we spent together on my 12th birthday?
The time I had to go to your house everyday during the early years of secondary school?
The time where we first met?
The time where we first started to talk?
The time you taught me how to play cards?
How I assured you that everything was going to be alright?
The time you came to my house and we had such a blast?
All the movie + other outings together?
How you gave me advice on every little thing?
How you were always there when I needed someone to talk to?
How we held hands?
The nicknames we gave each other?
The firsts?
How you held my hand to comfort me?
The times in tuition?
How we sticked together through thick and thin?
The surprise of meeting each other in random places?
Discovering each other's likes and dislikes?
How we patched things up and started talking again?
All the sports we played together?
All the jokes and bullying?
How you were always there no matter what?
The time we sat down in MPH and read shopaholic novels?
How we went diving together?
How we swapped clothes?
How you encouraged me to pierce my ears?
Listening to my complaints and every other thing?
How we shared songs?

Do you?

Do you still remember me?

Cos I still remember you, all of you, from my childhood friends up till my friends of today.

I cherish all of you. Deep down in my heart you will always be there.

Sometimes we are too caught up in the daily hustle and bustle of life that we take for granted everything that we currently have. Isn't it ironic that some people have to struggle every single minute of the day for survival, perhaps from a deadly disease, whereas some perfectly healthy people curse and swear at every tiny obstacle thrown at them, or a healthy individual ends his life due to some tiny problem currently faced?

It's time we reflect on how lucky we are to be healthy and alive.

Student Exchange Programme?

Does going overseas for one semester broaden your horizons and make you a more intelligent and knowledgeable person?

My observations on friends who went overseas to pursue tertiary studies.
UK: Clubbing + miss home + profs with funny accents
US: miss home
Aus: Miss home

Well. Some friends came back still the same. Some came home wilder. Some were pretty much westernized completely.

Or is it about expanding networks?

So you go there, struggle to settle in for 2 weeks, after 2 weeks of homesick-ness, settle for 3 months, and come back?

And everyone noes i get damn homesick.

Haha. From my tone you can see that I'm not that interested. We shall see. After all im planning to do my masters overseas anyway. And i'm adi in top 20 uni in the world. Professors are great.

What's there to complain?

2007. New start, New course, New University.

*rewinds clock to 16 days ago*

HAPPY 2007!!!!

*Fireworks burst non stop in the night sky*

okay that was lame =p

The first major change for the year 2007 was the change of university and course.

Old: NTU, Bioengineering
New: NUS, Life Science, tentatively Concentration in biomedical science and (?) cell and molecular biology

Yep. I decided that I wasn't the type who loves numbers and can do crazy calculations in my head and stun everyone with immediate answers together with solved complicated equations :D

What's different in NUS: The lecturers and the people. Back in NTU, you get mostly china lecturers who cant reli lecture cos their language is well, not good at all to be frank. Sometimes you even wonder whether they know what they're lecturing. Here at NUS, you get wonderful professors. :D Even those from china are good at what they are teaching, and they are understandable in terms of accent and language. (Hooray!)And back in NTU, you hear singlish and indonesian language everywhere you go. Here, you still get that singlish but not in that overwhelming sense, if you catch my drift. They are LOTS of exchange students here ( a lot of hot ones too XD ) and..campus life is more vibrant here. Definitely.

Oh, and I must eat less and exercise more boohoo. Buses are here to make ure life easy so you dun have to climb slopes and stairs like when I was in NTU.

Food stalls: More good food!! :D Tho I miss the desserts stall in NTU tee hee. The dessert stall here's quite good, but the taste a bit different.

Workload: Ahahahahah. NO MORE ENGINEERING MATHS. *sniggers.

Practicals: SOooo much more interesting. Last thursday i went to the dissection hall and saw and touched cadavers(dead ppl). The medic students peeled off their skins and reli dissected them so you can see all the inner organs. The formalin smell was a bit too much for my nose...and my appetite wavered a bit, but all in all, it was fine.

Room: Hrm. My NTU room was brand spanking new..so its like bit downgraded. But upgraded to a single room instead of a double room. After cleaning up and putting in some design to my room, I love it! :)

Proximity to city: NUS is so much closer to the city! :) Instead of a 1 hour and half journey..It's only around 40 min!

Time to go for class. Toodles.

Depressed

I had such great expectations of this holiday.

I looked forward to it so much. I missed everything and everyone so much when I was in Singapore.

Now that I'm back, well yea I've met up with a FEW friends..out of many which i initially wanted to meet and spend not only a few hours, but maybe a few days with.

Oh well. I guess everyone's just caught up in their own lives and business nowadays, and I wouldnt want to be the 3rd person or 4th person and become the lamp post.

I think that's one of my problems, I look forward to things too much and think that it'll be so great when the time comes but when the time actually comes it aint that wonderful and great after all.

Hmm.

So i guess i'll just bum around till some people ask me out. Heh.

Not exactly my idea of a wonderful holiday. Not exactly what I initially had in mind.

I guess everyone moves on after all.

Terrapins aka green turtles concerns

It has come to my notice that more and more pet shops are selling baby green turtles. However, if you look around for proper nutrition for these cute animals, you don't see much being sold at pet shops that are specially formulated for baby terrapins.

I need sulfa blocks. But I can't get them here. I have to be in the States to save my terrapins from a slight fungus problem. Does it mean that all the green turtles here are supposedly fated to be treated less luxuriously compared to the terrapins being reared in the states?

For those who, like me, love your baby green turtles or terrapins, here's a good health sheet i dug out over the net. If i had this health sheet with me since 10 years ago, I would have saved lots of terrapins' lives and not watch them die helplessly.

http://www.fishpondinfo.com/turtles/turhealth.htm#shell

Furthermore, look at the vets here. All they care about is Dogs and Cats. What bout the other pets?! the last time i brought a baby terrapin to see a vet, she gave it an injection at the back leg and then it died cos of pain. Excuse me, ure a vet, ure supposed to know what to do, what dosage to give to make the pet HEAL. not to send it to terrapin heaven.

And if you read that health sheet, ure supposed to give a vitamin injection 10 days consecutively at the FRONT leg.

Those in charge of pet shops should import in more vital health stuff for terrapins since u can find them being sold everywhere now.

I need sulfa blocks, as shown here *click* http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=6410&N=2006+113626

Chinstrap penguins waddle atop blue icebergs that—along with an unforgiving sea—guard the South Sandwich Islands.

OMG. I'm in love with penguins :) If you havent watched march of the penguins, go watch now! It's a documentary, very beautifully filmed. I'm going to watch happy feet soon too! Damn cute :)

2 days ago i saw this documentary on nat geo about dolphins..slaughtering. In Japan. Not that I want to evoke any international feud or anything, but..damn you fishermans in japan and all around the world who are slaughtering these beautiful intelligent animals in cold blood. Especially those in Taiji. I hope you burn in hell.

You know how they slaughter them?? They first surround the pack of dolphins, to a shallow place offshore, and then LEAVE THEM THERE with no food for a few days. Bloody hell. Till all the dolphins pack up together in panic, and a pilot dolphin, which is d leader of d group circle around the pack of panicked and stressed dolphins to guard them. How heroic is that? *stares daggers at the murderers*

Then the stupid fishermen come in their boats, then they...slit the throats of d weak dolphins. wat the hell. When you slit the throat, or before, the dolphin tears. Stupid cold blooded heartless murderers. *wrings fists*

Dolphins are damn intelligent. They're damn cute man. super smart. Seelah next time im goin to work for this group against dolphins killing..or killer whales. bah.

Pace to slow for 'Foxtrot' comic strip...bleh.

By TIMES WIRES
Published December 8, 2006

FoxTrot, the popular comic strip that runs in more than 1,000 newspapers, including the St. Petersburg Times, will end daily production Dec. 30. Bill Amend, who created FoxTrot in 1988, will continue to write and draw a Sunday strip. "After spending close to half of my life writing and drawing FoxTrot cartoons, I think it's time I got out of the house and tried some new things," he said in a statement reported by the Houston Chronicle. "I love cartooning, and I absolutely want to continue doing the strip, just not at the current all-consuming pace." Mike Wilson, Times assistant managing editor/newsfeatures, said Thursday that the paper wasn't sure whether it would continue to run FoxTrot on Sunday or how the comic would be replaced in the daily paper. "Over the next couple of weeks, we'll look at some of the new comics on the market," Wilson said. "There are some terrific strips out there. We'll show some of the best ones to readers and ask them what they like."

Oh well. At least there's still Sunday strips.

I'm back.

Haha! I love my homeland. There's this familiar and homely feeling that you only get here in Msia =) Everything that's so dear to me is all here...I've missed everything so much. Everything; my terrapins, my home, the trees outside my room, the slopes, the hills, the greenery, the driving, the night markets, the life, oh how I've missed the LIFE. :D

There's no place like home. There's no place i'd rather be rather than here now :P To heck with greener pastures at other countries.

To a few of my friends, i'd like to dedicate avril's latest song to you..KEEP HOLDING ON.

You're not alone
Together we stand
I'll be by your side
You know I'll take your hand
When it gets cold
And it feels like the end
There's no place to go
You know I won't give in
No, I won't give in

Keep holding on
Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through
Just stay strong
Cause you know I'm here for you
I'm here for you
There's nothing you can say
Nothing you can do
There's no other way when it comes to the truth
So, keep holding on
Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through

So far away
I wish you were here
Before it's too late
This could all disappear
Before the door's closed
And it comes to an end
With you by my side
I will fight and defend
I'll fight and defend, yeah, yeah

Keep holding on
Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through
Just stay strong
Cause you know I'm here for you
I'm here for you
There's nothing you can say
Nothing you can do
There's no other way when it comes to the truth
So, keep holding on
Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through

Hear me when I say
When I say I believe.
Nothing's gonna change
Nothing's gonna change destiny
Whatever's meant to be
Will work out perfectly

Keep holding on
Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through
Just stay strong
Cause you know I'm here for you
I'm here for you
There's nothing you can say
Nothing you can do
There's no other way when it comes to the truth
So, keep holding on
Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through

Keep holding on
Keep holding on
There's nothing you can say
Nothing you can do
There's no other way when it comes to the truth
So, keep holding on
Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through

Love each and every one of you to bits.

Happy B'Day Jia Xin!!

Tee hee. Happy 19th birthday dear gal :)

Since today was jia xin's birthday, I woke up super early at 610am to watch the sun rise on this beautiful day =p

Heehee. :) Well I did watch the sun start to rise =p Then I had to continue my phy exam revision cos my phy exam was at 9am.

That said, YAY NO MORE ELECTRONICS, MAGNETIC STUFF AND ENGINEERING MATHS!!!

For Life.

That's if i get admitted into NUS :D
Hopehopehope. :)

Hehe. To a sweet wonderful bestie who laughed at my jokes and told me more jokes, who temaned me all of my a levels, who fetched me home sometimes ( jh..u..same thing =p ), who told me to study when i wanted to slack, who made me laugh when i wasnt feeling so good, who gave me lots n lots of encouragement, who always drew cute smileys in class last year, the responsible class rep last year, the going to be a very damn good architect, the...wonderful friend :)....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIA XIN.

Chris Daughtry is damn good. His new album is awesome!!

*beams in delight*

all the songs are now stuck in my head ( oh no )

Anyway. on the 21st of November, when Ian Thorpe announced that he was retiring from professional swimming, Phoebe decides to take out her earrings and let her ear lobe holes heal. Bah. Yes my blood clot damn slow. 5 months adi still not healed.

Pk once said, Phoebe your blood useless lar. I think so oso. Hmmph.

Now the ear holes close up adi.

Tuesday, November 21, 2006

Before Phoebe wants to sleep:

Total silence outside except for only insect sounds.

When Phoebe decides to go to sleep:

Total silence outside except for insect sounds.

When Phoebe's head hits on the pillow and starts to concentrate on sleeping:

The guys upstairs start to shout and laugh. The guys downstairs starts to whoop and scream hysterically. The girls outside start to gossip and shout and laugh hysterically. The whole world gets up and starts banging on doors and running up and down the stairs with flip-flops generating that irritating "slap-slap" noise.

Or a very irritating SUPER LOUD alarm clock like fire drill lidet starts to RING for damn damn long.

......

This happens every single night since the last week.

I am so going to kill everyone. Anyone has rotten eggs so i can throw it out of the window when i want to sleep?

Matrices and Vectors

" In this case we know that the trivial solution will be a solution, the only question is whether or not it is the only solution."

Brain: trivial solution? What the heck is a trivial solution? And how u know whether thats d only solution and stop there? Huh? Nggrrhhh.

Blearghes =p

I dislike engineering maths immensely.

Good luck for the exam tmr, phoebe.

Reflections

After 2 months in NTU (feels like a whole year)... It's now time to look back on the sights and sounds from when i first arrived.

I felt damn lucky when I was admitted into NTU Bioengineering, apparently the hardest course and the hardest course to get into here. I felt luckier when I was allocated Hall 16, the newest hall with the best facilities, including air-conditioning.

I tried damn hard to catch up on the overwhelming amount of work that keeps piling up day by day, haha. But still damn blur in engineering maths, reason being after 5 hours we finish a whole big topic and move on to the next while I'm still stuck at page one.

I'm a person very easily attached to something. Hence it's nothing new that I was damn homesick the first few days I was here, thank goodness kang is here in Singapore too, its like one familiar face amidst unfamiliar faces. Thank goodness for my cousin being here too, haha. Finally in the same country as him :) For the first few weeks I followed Wee Chiew, Kenneth and Jun Hui around NTU as they helped me with my sense of direction ( NTU all looks the same ) and Kenneth lent me his JC notes on maths and Jun Hui showed me how to use the cashcard in the library.

As much as they are very nice helpful people...I can't really click with them. Maybe cos their thinking is very different from mine, probably what I would think when i was 15. Hence I tried mingling with the other cliques in my class ( around 75 ppl ). I found communication with the indian gang interesting, the 4 gals are very nice frenly ppl. However, I was like popping into a clique, haha. I mixed around with Zhi Theng, a gal from Chung Hwa KL but oh well she also has her own gang outside the class :) Luckily I have Pui Ee here, my makan buddy and someone to talk to and roll eyes with.

It's no wonder that I miss my taylors and high school friends so much :) You guys are the best haha. I would like to thank the gang especially for being who they are, I learnt so much from u guys and I am who I am thanks to all of you haha. If it weren't for you guys I think I'd probably be like most of the singaporeans here.

Food here is generally not bad, suits my taste :) However there are so many more msian food that's better :) So I can't wait to go back again. Haha.

The workload here is...crazy. Seriously crazy. Bio maths phy and chem, its damn lucky i was able to drop econs. I'm adi very super blur in maths haha. Just hoping to pass the paper so that I can transfer to NUS. And yea, Bioengineering, however prestigious that it is, is not what I ultimately am interested in. All the electronics and laplace and vectors in 3d and electronics and electronics and whatnot. Urgh. I cannot picture myself doing that for the rest of my life.

I like biomedical science. Graduate Med skul after that? We'll see how things goes from here.

Love Kang very muchie :) Thank goodness you're here :)

Missing the gang haha. I realised that day if it weren't for ying, I wouldn't noe all of you haha. Ying, thank goodness for you =p ( Do I hear some ppl going "Damn. Life would have been so much better" =p =p =p hahahha kidding =p )

Love each and every one of you =p Take care everyone! Especially Jia Xin, cos your course is soo hectic.

Who wants to order SUPER GOOD QUALITY nuts oats or dried fruits etc??

Who wants?? Who wants? As long as I'll meet u in Dec, then u can order :D

Go to www.fave.com.sg

Open their 'order list' or just browse through their products :D

Well...The reason is that if u order more than s$50 then u, i mean i, dunnid to pay the s$ 5 delivery fee!! :P So far my roomie and I have about s$29.80..so anyone wanna order another 21 bucks?

Its damn good stuff haha i bet u cant find just baked peanuts ( without salt and oil ) outside! Unless u go wash d peanuts of course. Tee hee.

Anyone interested tell me before monday 3.30 pm okay?

*looks forward to replies*

*gleeglee*
Imagine that you're in the toilet doing your own business in the middle of a fine morning and suddenly...

The person starts fogging outside.

I almost suffocated okay :( Not funny!!

Bio quiz was not bad at all :D This shud definitely bring a higher score compared to d previous test :)

Went jogging again at the track field! Jogging on the track field really does make a difference tee hee. Compared to jogging on roads..muddy chs field...beside ponds...Jogged 2.4 km in one shot :D And overtook a middle age man by like 200m :D

Summore I dun feel tired at all, just exhilarated *beams* If i wasnt feeling hungry ( i feel hungry damn fast these days and so i tend to pig out >.<) I would have jogged 10 rounds! yay!

I can't wait for chris daughtry's new album to come out!!! :P
YES YES YES YES YES FINISHED RECAPPING ALL OF MY BIO IN 3 HOURS PLUS!!!!

after one week plus of digesting it the first time :D

Yaayyy. Now to hope that i can remember all of it tmr!

Ta!

Chris Daughtry!!

Remember one of the top 3 finalists in American Idol 5? Remember Chris Daughtry?? :D

I absolutely LOVE his voice. Probably the best voice for singing for a guy :D

Very sexy.

And....*Drumrolls* His new album's out!!! Well, soon to be :D on the 21st of November!!!!!!
And omg. If U wanna hear 4 of his songs in his new album..go to http://www.chrisdaughtryfans.com/getthecd.html

Haha! And u can go pre-order the cd too :P Yes I'm helping to advertise cos he's damn good! :)

Loving all the new songs! :)

TaA -DaaAH!!

3 tests down! :) Free for the weekend!!! *beams in glee and jumps around in joy*

If you din notice, I changed a few colours of my blog elements!!! :) Much nicer now tee hee. And hopefully soothing for the eyes too =p I must admit I went a bit overhead with the colours in the previous posts :P Anyone wants eyemo can pinjam from me :P

I just went for a rotaract meeting regarding the upcoming summer holidays charity trip.

First thing they did after deciding where to go was to determine whether the place can SHOP or not.

*rolls eyes*

And there was a guy..or girl...in the meeting, I reli can't tell the sex. Flat chest, girly voice, face looks like girl or boy, and long straightened hair. Talks tomboyishly. *scratches head* I think this is one of the rare times I'm stumped :)

Haha. Weekend's here! :) Time to read my comics * takes out foxtrot gleefully *

OH, on another note:

Just now for intro to biomed engineering..we had this tour of the DNA centre in NIE :) And we saw a demo of a gene gun..quite scary stuff just like a gun going off actually. Uses gun powder. Hrm. It's supposed to inject genes into ure cells..haha. And..i saw a chewing gum tree!!!! *glee*

Did you know if u pluck out a leaf of the chewing gum tree, then at the stem there'll be sticky stuff which if u mix with pepermint and sugar you'll get..chewing gum!

*applause*

I miss all my lovely frens who are now all over the world. haha.

NTU Student survey - Funny comments

There seems to be too many rantings in my blog =p enjoy this clip for a change :)

Saturday, October 28, 2006

Years ago, I could study the whole day. Very super productive studying.

Now...my concentration seems to have wandered off to find someone else =p

This is BAD.

I want my concentration back >.<

I was so determined to study in the morning >.<>*urgh* do i really have to read this... :( damn sad okay! I still don't see wats the use of learning all these :(

To quote my lecturer:

" Well, usually people take 2 semesters to learn this topic, but we're doing it in 5 hours."

Me : O.O

That was for the topic on laplace transformations. And he said it again for matrix algebra. And again for vector spaces.

( somebody kill me, please )
*faints*

I think it's their secret plan, to discourage us all from this subject...but it wont make sense right?

:(

Well it sure is working well on me. I want to transfer course. *boohoo*.

*i want to go home*
Schedule for the next week and next month:

Next week:
Monday: MATHS TEST ON LAPLACE TRANSFORMS AND LINEAR ALGEBRA ( MATRICES )

Thursday: PHYSICS TEST ( MODERN PHYSICS AND WAVE OPTICS )

Friday: CHEMISTRY TEST ( ORGANIC CHEMISTRY )

*small note: pheebs has not been revising ever since recess week a month ago. Ever since recess she has just been attending classes, copying tutorials to pass up, reading harry potter and surfing the net. And she has forgotten most of the maths that was taught BEFORE recess*

What's now going through pheeb's brain:
*PANICPANICSTRESSSTRESS*

Ahem.
Schedule for the next month:

16 November - Biomolecular engineering test ( bio )
21 November - Mathematics for engineers
24 November - Engineering Physics
27 November - Chemistry for engineers
1 Dec - Effective Communication

Well. all i can say is.....
Thank god lab doesnt have exam. We're graded on the numerous reports which we have handed up. And...thank god intro to biomedical engineering has no exam.

...............

I can't wait to transfer course to biomedical SCIENCE.

NUS, accept me please? * flutters bambi eyes *
pretty please?

Man i cannot believe how narrow minded and childish some ppl think.

*smacks forehead multiple times*

You would expect older people to be more matured. And since the standard of English is so high, you would think that they speak perfect english, or at least perfect sentences in english.

Well you expect wrong.

The accent has a fusion of hokkien accent plus hokkien dialects plus other local terms which i dont understand and.... added with leh and loh and meh. Omg. I am not infected :D cos i wont be infected. Ha ha ha.

And anything to do with relationships or bf gf they go 'OOOOOOOOOooooOOOOOOooooOO' *ROLLS EYES* and omg lah seriously damn damn childish and narrow minded.

*gripes summore*

I'm griping cos I have to do this presentation with a few others and SO.... WE CANT AGREE ON A TOPIC cos all they want is to talk on HOW TO ATTRACT THE OPPOSITE SEX *rolls eyes multiple times* when the topic is FOR THE WHOLE COMMUNITY...like..strangers colleagues and whatnot.

*rolls eyes*

Shall not bore you with details animore =p Lucky my roomie's from the same country as me XD If not i'd be dead by now ha ha.

Monday, October 16, 2006

to sign up for IYG frisbee competition and get a free shirt....or chill in my room =p

that is the question!

well if i could form a team with 5 more ppl here i would join...joining as an individual hrm. But no one in my class looks like they like sports. HRM. join as an individual...can also lah, but quite boring =p

ho hum.

*deep thought*

Monday, October 09, 2006

Are you sure that a person that you're so close with now will continue to be as close to you for the rest of your life even if there's no form of communication between them for a few years?

Well. It is pretty uncertain. Maybe in that few years you found someone else to talk to...and when u see each other again..u dunno wat to talk about. That happens most of the time, doesn't it?

However :) I also believe that if you believe that friendships or relationships for that matter will last forever, then there is a higher chance of probability that it will :)

And I believe that this close group of friends which I now have will continue to remain as close as we transit into adulthood.

Ying Hui Lynn and Jess: How come i dun have any pics with you three!!!

* insert big pic of jia xin and me *

Chris i want a recent pic of u :)

I heart all of you ...and my terrapins at home too!

I know we'll make it =)
Ever since I left home, everyday i'll think of wat to eat for breakfast lunch and dinner =p ( not that I dun do it at home, just that nowadays i do it more =p )

Items on crave list
1. PANCAKES!!!

3. GINGKO BARLEY!!!
4. GREEN BEAN SOUP!!!

Omg terrapins n guppies are the cutest things ever.

I cant believe my day just flew away like THAT!

Morning woke up at 940 then went out to morning market in ss2 at 1045 =P Whee hee hee. I love markets! Bought stuff that I want to eat this week :D yayy. I love the peanut soup and that dunno wats its called in english vege and yam and sweet potato and green bean soup and barley.. ahhh :)

Then went for dim sum with mom!!! omg damn nice :) * beams* We then stopped at the pet shop at ttdi...and bought guppies =P 3 male 3 female and 2 shiny fishes :)

And....

The pregnant female guppy gave birth to TEN baby guppies!!!!

*hops around in glee*

omg damn cute lar the baby guppies :) so tiny and so cute. hahahha. Then i scrubbed my terrapins' shells and now they are all nice and green and so pretty! :)

YAYY.

Saturday, September 23, 2006

IM BACK!!! IM BACK!!!! * jumps around in glee*

*grins widely and heaves a sigh of contentment*

:)

Thanks to Kang dear who helped me with my luggage...*embarrased look* I just brought the wrong luggage bag lah.

Aeroline was not bad :) quite comfy, i like the food that was served - fish, vege, some meat roll thing and rice n milo and dragonfruit!!! U noe...i'm craving for mango cos its so expensive in singapore! 0.80 sg cents for ONE SLICE. omg man.

Too bad it had to rain SO HEAVILY when we reached menara axis...bit bleh lah, and some water went into my bag and my PRECIOUS CHEMISTRY NOTES WERE INSIDE...luckily oni kena a bit at the side for the A2 notes...and smeared a bit of colour ink :( Yea i like to use colour pens to highlight certain stuff.

I saw my baby terrapins again! :) Then i realized my fave baby turtle now has the stupid white stuff on a part of its shell..thanks to the stupid biggest baby turtle which has some white stuff which i tried to remove using alcohol swabs but it comes back ( grr. )...bah. shall think of ways to remove the fungus thing or is it some shell eating thing or shell covering white thing. the turtle seems oblivious to it tho. Maybe i shud sun them. hmm.

Thenn..went to the curve :) i miss flea markets! then i met pui ee there.... :D It was like she and js standing at one stall.. I din see them i was bz looking at the necklaces..then i stood beside her and we stared at necklaces..then suddenly she said phoebe! and i looked up n we both got a shock cos we din expect to see each other like SO SOON.... :D hee hee.

So..I wanna meet up with all my friends! that includes You and you and YOU. :)

Friday, September 15, 2006

I don't believe that I have a 11 chapter bio test next tuesday and a math test on everything which I still havent really understood on Next thursday!!!!

*stares daggers at both lousy lecturers*

Bah.

Monday, September 11, 2006

Foxtrot is absolutely my favourite comic in the world together with calvin and hobbes!

Speaking of which, my math tutor is INSANE. Actually, if he can be a lecturer, so can I, I'll just read off the notes regarding the theories and give the students the general solutions with all the arbituary constants and x's and y's and z's and ure supposed to be able to do ure tutorial after reading the x and y and z. Well, I suppose, it'll be okay if we understood the theory...but...we...don't. Ha ha ha.

Same thing goes to my Bio lecturer. My goodness if he can get a phD i can get a ....hm. First class honours PhD. My ex bio lecturer from taylors will vomit blood in his lectures cos he cant teach bio and he's like teaching kindergarden kids, cos he uses terms like 'poke' and 'gel' where the actual terms are perforin molecules 'punch' holes in cell membrane of infected cell. and 'gel' is complementary nucleotides forms hydrogen bonds.

Hmm.

All these lecturers from China. I s'pose its not good to generalize like that, but reli...wat with their accents and all, they should teach in chinese.

Sunday, September 10, 2006

I just want to...

SLEEP for EIGHT hours everyday. NOT including afternoon naps.

Research shows that sleeping for 7 or 8 hours per day boosts ure immune system, and improves ure memory. Basically, its a GOOD thing to sleep for 7 plus hours a day.

And That's ALL i wanna do at night, to sleep at preferably 12 sth to 8.20 cos i have early classes EVERYDAY so i have to wake up early EVERYDAY.

I dun want to turn into a zombie. I just want to SLEEP. Without lights and sounds. Cos that's how I sleep. That's how normal ppl sleeps, without lights and sounds.

So, I just want to sleep for 8 hours EVERYDAY. so that i'll be energetic the next day and not feel sleepy and dying and all that shit.

Friday, September 08, 2006

For those still blur and confused : I am now in Singapore NTU :D

I left for Singapore on early sat morning after receiving my offer on thurs nite =)
Only to find out that NTU ( and other unis in Singapore, i think) works 5-day weeks. Hah. So...I had a nice stay in Carlton hotel which was very conveniently having 50% off its normal rate *glee*..but on the 2nd night we decided it was still rather expensive and went off to the hotel 81. Hrm. Well, hotel 81 is....okay if u're looking for a simple room and corridors with stale air. The first unit we got stank of cigarette smoke and YOU ALL KNOW that im bit sensitive to that so we got a 2nd room which was nicer and bigger a bit =P Heehee.

So on monday morning, I checked into NTU =) and i got hall 16!!! I can't believe that the lady actually asked me whether I wanted air cond or non air cond room *gleeglee*

Anyway, Hall 16 is just great. It was just built last year and it's now like half a year old. So everything's nice and new and clean =) And my neighbours are really friendly people, just that at night the people who are staying one floor above me are super inconsiderate. One day i'll just throw an egg at the person who plays guitar in the middle of the night (!!) and those guys who have gatherings in the middle of the night and shout and laugh damn loudly like they want to wake up the whole world *stares daggers*

The first day...I got really lost. I really really really got lost in NTU. NTU is just huge. And the north and south spine look the same! oh the BIE building is SOOOO NEW AND NICE *beams* my lecturers, well you get the usual bunch, some good some er OKAYLAH. And it was like God had it all arranged for me, the place I chose to sit in the 1st lecture was next to a bunch of RELI frenly Singaporeans = Jun Hui, Kenneth, and Chewy =P Chewy is her nickname, she's actually Wee Chew. I think the spelling is like that =) JH and K stay in hall 13 which is just next to mine so every morn we have breakfast then i follow them to class then i wont get lost!!!! perfect plan man =) Heehee. And now when i talk chinese I'm starting to use 'leh' hrm. =P

So...everything's well and nice just that now I'll have to go read up and catch up on my maths =)

I love my uni and my new friends and the exercise I have to do every morning which is to walk to class via climbing lots of stairs and going up lots of slopes. HeeHee. And I love the fruit juices - not too sweet and just right =)

yay!

Now that I look back, I really had an innocent childhood where enid blyton books played a huge role up to the age of erm...12. Tho i finished all of them at the age of 9 i still loved to read them over and over again.

I realized I never wondered bout where do babies come from. Haha. So bottomline was, I grew up innocent :)

...And then lost half my innocence to the gang of close friends - harold, pk, kang, yuen. Hmph.

*hmph* =P

However, I'm still innocent cos I din understand half the convo harold n yuen had outside baskin robbins :P

And now harold's gone off to the US...to start a new life and find someone else to bully XD

Hahaha. Gonna miss you harold, take good care and dont forget me =P I know you wont no matter how hard you try to:) I'm ure worst nightmare :D

Ahaha.

Want a cigar? NO THANKS.

I have yet to understand wats sooo nice bout smoking. It pollutes the air, it causes the ppl around you AND YOU to get lung cancer, it causes the ppl who breathe in ure inconsiderate puffing which is full of tar and carcinogenic materials to get sick and experience throat dryness, which leads to drying of eyes and feeling very uncomfortable and then the poor innocent person will have to eat like 5 ricolas in one go to add a bit of mucus in the lining of the throat.

You inconsiderate tar-spewing cancer-causing puffer.

have fun puffing in tar that settles at the depth of ure lungs and kills off all ure alveoli and ure goblet cells start to expand and then u have trouble breathing and start wheezing non stop.

by that time my throat dryness and sickness will be gone and i'll be the healthy one.

an email from wpi:

Greetings from WPI , at this point we have learned that up until now you have not paid your SEVIS fees, which means that you haven’t started your visa process.

Since we are in the middle of July only about a month away from the first day of fall semester, please let me know if there is a specific problem that you are dealing with that is delaying the process.

In case you have paid the SEVIS fees please email me at your first convenience and we will follow through to make sure the system is updated. SEVIS fees are very important since you will be asked to show a proof when entering the US.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need some additional information.

I am looking forward to your prompt reply.

The reply inside my head:

I KNOW I KNOW DUN HAVE TO RUSH ME....anyway visa is only a 2 days process soo nervous for wat. bah. I got lots of things on my mind now!!!

I don't want to be like this. I don't want to feel like this. I don't want to have these thoughts.

I won't.

Excited? HmM.

Everytime I go to a US fair and talk to the college counsellors, or to the MACEE to talk to the person in charge to get my VISA done, they'll go :

" Oh wow, so you've already have a place in a uni in the states? "

*flips thru acceptance letter*
*flips thru scholarship letter*

"oh wow!! This is SO EXCITING!!!!!!!"

*their eyes turn round like saucers and start grinning from ear to ear*

Me : Er..yeah..heh heh. *plasters smile on face*

haiyer.

Goodbye, dear

Well, as I said before, I never liked saying goodbyes :( Even tho I might be going to Singapore myself for Uni..but none of that's certain yet ( stupid NTU) :P

So, the thought that I'm going to US myself is quite the sad enuff =P

Anyway =) :) Going to uni is for our own good :D And its a whole new wonderful experience :D

Everyday I love you.

by Boyzone.

I don't know, but I believe
That some things are meant to be
And that you'll make a better me
Everyday I love you
I never thought that dreams came true
But you showed me that they do
You know that I learn something new
Everyday I love you

'Cos I believe that destiny
Is out of our control (don't you know that I do)
And you'll never live until you love
With all your heart and soul.

It's a touch when I feel bad
It's a smile when I get mad
All the little things I am
Everyday I love you

Everyday I love you more
Everyday I love you

'Cos I believe that destiny
Is out of our control (don't you know that I do)
And you'll never live until you love
With all your heart and soul

If I asked would you say yes?
Together we're the very best
I know that I am truly blessed
Everyday I love you
And I'll give you my best
Everyday I love you

BooHoo.

How can Germany lose to Italy? How?! They were brilliant! And still are.. :D

Yes yes I have been extremely lazy to update this blog :P I salute u if u still visit here =P I will be blogging bout my Redang trip which was a month ago, and the prom which was a week ago soon =P Both of them were absolutely awesome! :)

And yesh i still dunno where im going, cos NTU is very conveniently holding up the whole world. So wait lah =P

Yesterday I went for these JABS...>.<...I hate long needles. bleargh. Took the anti-tetanus and the MMR..and took a blood test..cos i dunno whether I have had d stupid hepatitis B jab when I was a baby. How am I supposed to remember wat happened when I was one year old? =P And d nurse din bother to record down my jabs at that time too...lousy service =P.

Hope d jabs din bring any side effects..cos d area around my anti-tetanus jab swelled up, bah. And i had this lost my balance thing where ure sitting there n d world spins to one side and ure body just follows and u cant control it. For a short spell anyway. 2nd time i have this =P haha. 1st time was few months ago. So anyway nothing serious lah =P

Till my next post... tata =p So many ppl leaving, sometimes i get quite sentimental and nostalgic. Hrmph. I never liked saying goodbye, or goodbyes =P
