Wednesday, December 26, 2007

when you see any mercedes/porsche with tinted glasses driving near you..you better run.

just an hour ago my mom n i were walking along ss2 the lorong along ktz and king's confectionary, we were nearing the end when a silver c-series brand new mercedes sped into d lorong, then halfway an indian fella wearing white shirt jeans and a cap jumped out of d car (almost fell into d longkang) and ran over to d other side where a lady was walking with a purple handbag and snatched her handbag. the lady refused to let go and started screaming and d fella pulled her over to d other side and got in and kept pulling at d bag and she kept screaming and all those men just stood at d side watching damn useless, i think d fella wanted to pull her into d car also then she let go of d bag.

damn horrible i tell you. apparently theres an indian gang going around snatching handbags then commiting rape and murder whos driving mercedes and porsche cars. so yea keep your eyes open you nv noe wats going to happen my mom and i was pretty lucky cos we reached d end of d lorong adi when d merscedes drove in.

horrible stupid ppl, and well dun expect anyone to help you cos all those men like 8 of them just stood at d side watching

7/12/07 - Friday

Went to the best morning market ever in Kepong, got my yummy egg tarts and char siew bao before heading off to the big bookshop warehouse sales in Atria. If you havent been there, i'd strongly suggest that you do, especially if you love books as much as I do. Went out with HY, PK, Kang (after dinner i think, i can't remember) and made a stop at the curve where there was this miss triumph streetparty going on. Rest of the night was a blur i cant remember :)

8/12/07 - Saturday (Or Sunday?!)

Dinner with Kang, HY, PK, Alex from Aus, JS, Alicia at one u at the jap place before heading off for mamak at roti and rice. Love the thick milo ais :)

10/12/07 - Monday

Alex from Aus and PK stayed over at Kang's, so we then went over to OUG at 11-ish to grab some yummy pork noodles/pan mee. Picked up Alex Ang along the way. Seriously, Alex is becoming a rather common name :P. The teh ais at OUG is superbly nice. Lovely stuff. Then made an impromptu trip to KL cos Alex (Aus) had to meet his fren Jonathan from Aus at 4pm. Bummed around Low Yat and SungeiWang for a while before taking off to the disgustingly dirty streets of KL. And it was raining summore...urgh. Ppl there also one kind...nope sirree i do not like this place which explains why i rarely go there in the first place and i cannot understand why they call it a 'city'. Eesh. Shoudlnt have worn my Nose slippers for that walk, now all the seams are starting to come out and cracks are starting to form. Bah I really liked this pair of slippers. Well after that walked back to Masjid Jamek and took the LRT back to good ol' PJ; back to civilisation.

Went for dinner at 8-ish with a rumbling stomach to pantai seafood and yes the two aussies did enjoy their dinner :) We then proceeded to the SS2 night market to show them how pasar malams are really like. Fortunately there were still some stalls left when we got there as it had been raining non stop for the whole day...not to mention the fact that it was almost 10 by the time we arrived.

We tapaued durian, soursop loh and the famous tau foo fah riceballs for the visitors to savour. The durian was not well liked, i'm afraid :P "The texture of the durian is filthy!" :P I went back after that while they went off to play pool in smoky asia cafe and went for mamak somewhere :P

11/12/07 - Tuesday

Just made a short trip out with Alex Ang, PK, and Kang to Uptown to get some nasi lemak. The Milo dinosaur was seriously quite scary and is equivalent to like 3 meals if you drank the whole thing up. Went back, finished up my lovely novel and went out for dinner with family at Fong Lye which is really nice but pricey. But the food's really nice. :)

12/12/07 - Wednesday

Here I am stuck at home with nothing much to do and thats why this blog is getting this really nice long post which will end now. :P

Back Home! :)

Man Desperate Housewives season 4 is damn good...riveted to it :) The 4x09 episode was super good ! :) Hats off to the directors :D

Time for some good relaxing after like 4 months of non stop insane hard work sheesh. It had better pay off good.

Just caught up with kang, ying, and pk for dinner and some chilling out just now. Bumped into the miss triumph street party at the curve :) and got a really nice goodie bag thanks to a really really nice fella who was so kind to give me an extra form to redeem the goodie bag :D Also bumped into pui ee and sook yeen, really, the world is super small.

ahh..life at home IS good. Who would wanna go anywhere else?

Coming to this place makes you forget how it's like to have NOTHING to do. Just finished an organic chem test(Phew thank goodness THAT's over and done with, you cant imagine the insane amounts of reagents, conditions, unnecessary mechanisms i have to remember! Its like A-levels workload x 1000! Welcome to Singapore.), and i have bioinformatics assignment due by tonight(and i'm still typing this blogpost!), stats assignment in a week's time, universe project due soon, 2 tests coming up. I ask you who has 30 hours of lessons and labs plus every week, go out at 7.45am come back at 6.30pm every single weekday, has like 12 CAs in totals over 3 months then 6 papers for final month! Again, welcome to Singapore.

Heh. A year plus on and i'm still bitching bout the workload. Shows that i've not been converted (into the dark side) :P.

Yesterday at my marketing tutorial, my tutor, who apparently has a new company set up in Msia so she had to go back and forth very often to msia last year (around The Curve area) said:

Tutor: have you heard of the curve?
Class: Nooo...*thinks of some ulu place in the jungle with wooden houses on stilts*
Me: *thinks that the curve will beat the biggest shopping mall here flat*

Tutor: You know, you would expect ppl in msia n s'pore to be similar, cos its so close etc, but you know, when i first went to msia, i got the shock of my life! Ppl there do this very well, and almost EVERYONE of them do it, which is they loooveeee to take money from the cashier machine.
Class: *GASP* ISNT THAT STEALING?! *appalled look*
Me: (What?! Almost everyone?!Liar.)

Tutor: yeah! there was this lady we suspected of like taking 100k over a period of time, so she denied we had a court case for 1 yr plus and in the end WE LOST THE CASE *gasp of horror from class, and thought bubble comes out of everyone's heads: Msians are so barbaric* and we had to pay her for like job loss compensation etc etc etc! So now in msia we only hire part-timers, where if ure not good we just give you like one day to work, in d end you will leave yourself cos if u fire ppl in msia they will come back and harm you.
Me: *raises eyebrows*

Tutor: And you know, cinemas right, you're not supposed to bring in outside food. I mean, its common knowledge , and you guys are brought up to know not to bring in outside food into d cinema. I Saw personally with my own eyes, in msia, when d cinema attendant told d fella he cant bring his food in, he got SO angry he threw ALL HIS FOOD at the attendant's face and stormed off!
Class: *gasp of horror and resolves that all msians are barbarians*
Me: (Wtf i've never seen it before it my whole entire life)

Geez man. Sheesh.

What i've seen myself, is while in giant in s'pore, is a lady, cos she couldnt pay her milo at the staff cashier, went to the management, called the fella here, and started bitching bout 'is there a special treatment for staff?! I want to pay my milo here and she tells me i cant, and when i look back shes making payment for a staff member!

Helloo. My goodness.

Okay haha :P Time to get some work done :)

Oh..sidetrack. Nick Carter from BSB is hot :P And their new song is soo nice it's stuck in my head :P

Lol.

Why can't there be a disease that can be cured by ice cream :P Then we'd have free ice creams :D

Daughtry Madness

OMG OMG I JUST SAW CHRIS LIVE IN PERSON! :D Omg man seriously chris daughtry is the best ever :D

I invited iris and vway hau with me n kang, with iris and me grinning excitedly from ear to ear :D We reached harbourfront at 6, then decided to eat dinner at sakae sushi first! Then We reached st james power station at around 6.45pm. omg the queue to powerhouse was like freaking long already, but luckilyyyy we went there just on time man. At least we got to go in! The queue was madness hahaha. There were even uneaten burger kings at the entrance of the queue, ppl bought it to wait for the queue to reach them, then when it reached them they just threw it all away just so that can see daughtry perform live :D whoohoohoo.

Hehehe. At the entrance, we proudly gave our tickets to the bouncer(?) and got this really cool invisible stamp on our hands which ONLY under UV light it says 'powerhouse' wah so cool *jakun*.

When we got in inside was like this really cool place but really packed to the brim, but hehehehe we as msians managed to squeeze our way in from the walkway into the front of d central stage! Well like a few few rows away:D We were like saying later if the crowd starts to jump we go to the front :P :P :P

The emcee was stupid lah, stupid girl. *jealous she gets to put her arm around chris* :P Chris and his whole band was awesomely awesome man :D They started off with 'crashed' then moved on to what about now and etc etc and then it's not over then home! So cool man! If you dunno all these songs you can go jump off the cliff or sth :P After home the whole band went offstage, and i thought it was the end. Hahaha. Then the crowd went 'daughtry, daughtry, daughtry' chanting and the wholeband came back!!!!!!!!!!! *super excited*

So super cool man. Hehehe. Then chris sang 2 more songs for us, it was really damn awesome :D His voice is so good. His looks is so good. He's such a faithful person to his family. Yay!

What a wonderful wonderful night. One of the most memorable nights ever hehehe :)

Oh yea, I have to add, smoke-free clubs are SOOOO nice. :D They shud have this in msia, it would be like entering some posh place :D

So cool. Yay yay yay. I don't want to study anymore :P :P :P

The Most Happening Post Ever

Welcome to Part 1 of the most happening post ever!! XD

All of a sudden, my life has turned from boring and nerdy and mundane to damn hip and happening :D

Woohoohoo.

I won 4 tickets to watch Chris Daughtry perform live in a club! Club as in clubbing, you know. And everyone knows i've been a chris daughtry fan since day one. Omg man. Cannot wait seriously. Damn excited!

This will be the first time phoebe ever steps into a club. Ahaha seriously i know damn lame haha since i'm like 20. I've never felt the urge to enter a club, so this will be a totally new experience.

Ahahahaha. I won the tickets via the uni radiostation :D Whee! I got the msg that said: The radiostation is pleased to announce that you have won yourself a pair of tickets to the daughtry experience! at around 11.30pm last night. OMG HAHAHA damn excited couldnt sleep for an hour after that :P

Yay! So after the 10-5 of nonstop classes and stupid organic chem lab, phoebe is going to listen to chris daughtry sing 'home' live and go home on the next day!

Ah. Life is BLISS. :D:D:D:D:D:D

Rush Week

This week has been crazy.

It was basically a rush from start till now.

Sunday: Rush to finish reading organic chem test
Monday, Tues, Wed: Rush to finish tutorial assignments, lab reports, lectures, sending out mass emails for museum club.

Thurs, Fri: Mad rush to complete stats assignments, think of major event for club, send out mass emails, print out membership forms, rush to redo stats assignment cos did wrongly:(, now rush to study for tuesday's test.

Phew. What a tiring week!

Yesterday morning at around 8.26 am I felt the tremor of the earthquake for the FIRST time in my life :D. Well, I was lying on my bed then i sorta felt the bed shake slightly. Should be the tremor :P Hehehe. If i wasn't lying on my bed I wouldnt feel anything again.

Tomorrow is going out day! :D After stressing for like 2 weeks plus non stop, it's time to take a tiny time out and to relax. Dinner will be with some old primary skul frens and pui ee! Havent seen her in ages. Well maybe in the afternoon when i get bored i'll study in the shopping mall. Damn no life I know. Well, here really no life one :P Hope I wont get sued :P

Lalala.

Need. Rest. Need. To. Go. Home.

Today the prof invited me for free ice blended spinelli coffee..haha yums. It's wonderful to make another professor friend, after making 2 in NTU :D.

Last sem friday was my break day. It was like one week 8 hours lab, one week long weekend(can think of going home..whee). This sem its just 8-6 pm :( I shall say again that my timetable sucks. Usually afta classes on friday I'm so dead spent that I just feel like sleeping in all of the next day and lazing around. Unfortunately, that's not allowed in this stupid place.

I have a chem test coming up on Monday (drat the stupid 1st year module which I have to take as an extra module which is forcing me for labs where i almost got sprayed in the face with conc hcl thank goodness for the fumehood glass which saved my life and my looks :P) which i have not studied for. It's worth 10 marks. I'm so tempted to just...not study. But then the stress and pressure that I'm feeling everyday is forcing me to study and do well for this sem. See all my pimples popping up again? see my weight dropping down again? Bah. Harold said I put on when i saw him last, Well I've lost all d weight now =p teehee.

I want a holiday....argh. Cant wait to be an ex-nus. Sheesh. Whoever said the best days of your life is ure uni days must be kidding. It's torture :( I'll say the best days of my life were my high school days. It's like high school its so happy everyday, and then taylors was okaylah, and then uni is like..shit. sheesh. bah.

Anyone kind enough to gimme some lovely hokkaido green tea ice cream to cheer me up? :P

Little Miss Honest

Yest morning - evening was just spent sitting in front of d comp n finishing up the stats assignment (due today). After that attended my 4-6pm bioinformatics practical, and proceeded off to Science club interview.

Well one thing I'll have to say is, they did not have to make the interview seem like a police interrogation or something. Once I went in, the 5 of them gave me super stern looks and you know that type of look like you're a low class fella and they are so super high up.

The interview started with:

(stern face) I wish to remind you that whatever that goes on here will be kept strictly confidential if not you will be expelled from consideration of being in the committee.

ho, hum. whatever. Well, I ain't desperate to be in the committee, especially when I'm already secretary for the very awesome museum club now! Ha! So sorry to disappoint. Summore now even if i'm offered the job, I still might consider cos you know...working with them...not that desperate to lah. Maybe i'll just do it cos it looks nice on my CV, you know, science club? Lol.

This morning I found a purse in the washroom! There was like 100 plus bucks in it, complete with atm card, citibank credit card, and a staff card. I handed it back to the office, so now i'm feeling like a saint :P Turns out it's an assoc. prof, and she says pls drop by her office when convenient! :D Yay. honesty pays :P

Anyway, my 4 episodes of the 4400 season 4 are just sitting there waiting to be watched! :D Shall take a day out to chill, then start studying for my test next monday.

Friday, August 31, 2007

Haha I'm so getting into this blogging mood.

The time's now 10.17pm. I went out at 7.45 am in the morning, and I got back at around 9sth -.-" Stupid insane crazy 8am classes. And I've got 3 days at 8am, and 2 days 8am-6pm, and one day 10-5pm NON STOP. Crazy.

Anyway that's not my point.

Went to draw blood today! Omg the stupid needle so long and so scaryyy!
Prof: Why, scared ah? Dunnid to be scared =p
Me: scared of the needle lol =p
Anyway. He poked it into my vein then i see the blood stream out bleh. Filled 2 tubes then ugghh luckily the needle was then quickly pulled out. phew. Thank you kang for temaning me =p

As for the museum club thing, I dunno yet, results are yet to be out :)

After the museum club I went for stargazing! At the uni field. It's by the prof of this module that i'm taking, understanding the universe. Met Katie, an US exchange student which I met in the lecture, and we went for this stargazing trip together =)
We saw jupiter!! and its 4 moons hehe. Sooo cool. Jupiter was really bright in the sky, it was like a bring dot with red streaks across it :D Hehehe. So cool. I love astronomy. We were also shown the ring nebula, scorpio, sagittarius, libra, virgo :)

I found a stall that sells yummy char siew bao !! :D This is a big deal here okay, cos so far the char siew baos here are all sucky yucks compared to those in msia. The stall also sells yummy egg tarts :D

Hehehe.

Thursday, August 30, 2007

I saw my best primary school friend when I came to uni in August. I was so surprised and soo delighted to see her haha. Basically cos I've always wondered where did she go after secondary school, since I can never find her in some pic during bloghoppings.

She still looks the same, except the hair's dyed and curled up. She still sounds the same, and she still laughs the same haha. But as I've said, time wrecks friendships. I don't know her anymore, what she likes, what she dislikes, all I know of her is how she was. Oh well.

There was a bazaar at Science today! Crystal necklaces going at one buck each OMG o.0. That's the absolutely best deal I have ever come across in my whole life man. So naturally I bought 3 :P If there were more nicer ones I would have bought more :P I mean, even the basic COST of these things exceed 1 buck!

Last night met my cousin at the 'biggest' shopping mall in sg, and we had yummy thai food. I ordered the pork ribs noodle soup, where u noe u have this soup that tastes full of herbs and spices :P Well this one was a bit too sweet, but at least still got flavour. Dunno why the meat no flavour at all -.-" Here the egg and meat no flavour one i dunno why. How do you make an egg have no egg flavour and meat have no meat flavour? o.0 I miss bah kut teh :(

Anyway, my cousin's life is so good now. :) so so nice. Makes me look forward to working. No more exams! No more stress! No more being forced to join cca that you're not really interested in!No more joining activities for the sake of earning points so that you can stay on next semester! No more lousy china tutors! No more... you get my point. oh, NO MORE STAYING IN SG! :P I hope i find a sg company based in msia. Pls pls pls pls pls man. Cannot tahan studying anymore.

Speaking of CCA, had my Museum club interview today. Nah its not really bout museums and history btw. Its bout organizing bazaars! :P :D Yayy. Should be okay, election's tmr!

Haih tmr nid to kena draw 10ml blood for some research study. Shall tahan long needle phobia for 100 bucks. Tahan tahan tahan. *thinks of long needle and blanches*

Craving good food :( Craving a bowl of nice yummy steaming hot soup :( Craving a huge huge bowl of hot dessert :( Craving yummy green tea ice cream :( Craving yummy thick milo like the one I drank near Harold's place. That one was like practically the whole tin of milo dumped into one cup lol.

Okie, toodles.

coastal zone

AHhh love this song so much :D It's from that taiwan series that I was so obsessed about =p

A Long Awaited (hopefully) Update

Greetings from the small tiny dot on the world map!

Fine, a teeennnyyy tiny dot.

This sem i'm going to have to take SIX modules (normal ppl take 5 max here) thanks to sucky admin who refuse to give me exemptions for 1st year modules. I'm already a 2nd year student!

However, this 2nd year lectures are seemingly more interesting, and I actually find myself drawn to flip thru the textbooks and look at all the knitty gritty details :D
Perhaps its cos I've done half of it in NTU already, so I've already gotten the gist of most of the stuff. Hopefully that'll help me get to the top of the darn bell curve.

A belated birthday shoutout to one of my dearest frens, Christopher Lim who has already left Msia and gone off to the States, vowing not to return ever again :P (kidding chris, come back sooN! ;) ) Thanks for the wonderful meetup in kl, I certainly wont forget some of the nice things that you've said about me hehe. *ego swells* You really made me realize some stuff about myself haha. I'll continue reading robin cook + science mags! :P *winks* Take good care in US okie? And stay in touch yea. In other words, stay up late so i can talk to u online in msn! :P

:)

Sigh. Stuck in this place for another two years if i wanna do honours. Sounds so much better, 2nd lower/ 2nd upper/ 1st CLASS HONOURS compared to pass with merit bachelors of science. Haiyer...cant wait to get out of this place. *stares daggers*

Miss my family the most, and a few friends left in msia who are waiting to go to UK. Haha. Everyone's flying away on a jet plane...I'm glad I just have to take a bus and go back and see my darling family whenever I want! *sidenote: when they permit me to return*

Heart heart heart.

I wish it was mid sept now, where its mid sem hols! :D Yay!

Refreshed

Will be working for one day tmr near the digital mall.

This is for those who need to destress: a foxtrot comic strip by the very famous bill amend :D

Enjoy.

Years back, I wouldn't think of myself as having very little friends.

Alas, time and distance has worked its magic and is slowly tearing apart bonds of friendships.

I'd like a moment's silence for every little piece of my heart that has been returned unwillingly back to me.

The main reason why I'm so reluctant to organize gatherings is cos I want to avoid the awkward silences that symbolizes how far we've grown apart.

Another problem for meeting up would be transport. No car = no socializing.

Harry Potter coming out tmr, can't wait :D Can't wait for the paperback version anyway. Or maybe i'll just take advantage of the 20% sales which is reserved only for tmr.

Transformers Craze

Yesterday I watched

Damn cool! Especially loved all the CGI effects and wtv else effects ehehhe. Makes me wanna go buy one of those transformers toys even tho I've never touched one before in my life =p

I like the part(s) where in the movie the autobots and the decepticons all start to transform from cars to super cool robots. Whoohoo. *machine clicks together sound*

Luckily bumblebee didnt die. If not I would have cried. Phew. =p

I think megan fox looks a bit like demi moore lah. And I think the fella acting as the soldier who survived the 1st attack and has a family back home is damn hot XD

This is the bird that always stops outside my window to clean its feathers or to hop around..so cuteee hehehe. One day i'll try to feed it. :D

Cake decorating!

Well okay this post is a week late.

A picture speaks a thousand words. So taadaah! introducing the cake i decorated! Muahaha. *proud*

PRETTY RIGHT?! :D :D My pride and joy lol. Can spend hours marvelling the intrinsic prettyy details :D
Some people aspire very super much to be a doctor. To save lives even if it means working 36 hours a day.

Some people die oso want to get a law degree, and become a lawyer.

Most people know what they really really love and are passionate about and know what type of work they wanna do when they graduate.

Me? Yea I do like science, esp biomedical field, but do I really wanna immerse myself in research or more research for the rest of my life? Spend the rest of my life cooped up in labs waiting for microorganisms to grow, or for the machine to sprout out a reading that will change my whole life and win me a nobel prize?

A teacher told me, I'm someone that knows how to enjoy the most. When its time to play, i play, when its time for sports, i do sports, when its time to study, only i study. Which is a good thing. (you dun become a nerd)

I dun want to spend my life in a lab that smells of chemicals for the rest of my life! *screams*

But I like science. HAIYER. conflict gila.

Working really changes your perspective. In the money sense and friends sense.

I would say I really enjoyed working as a promoter. Every week, new friends are made. And sometimes I even feel that the friends that I make in these few days of working are even better than some friends I have now. Furthermore, after 3 days of working and saying goodbye, even tho we probably wont meet each other again, I get the feeling that it was a blessing to have known them, who knows we might meet again when I work again.

You know, a few months ago, I would be someone who tries to keep in touch with friends who have seemed to move on and forgotten about me. Now, I don't really care much anymore. You might think that I've developed a 'loner' attitude haha. Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe its just giving up on certain people after numerous tries to even say 'hi'.

Don't get me wrong, I still treasure the close friends I have. Not to forget my wonderful family and my darling. I just don't care much about the people that I've lost touch with. Until we meet again, then we see how things goes. Maybe we'll start talking like the old times, or maybe we'll just stare at each other in awkward silence like complete strangers.

Today was supposed to be my first day working as a sales coordinator at some high class uk fashion shop at one u.

(high class but the pay is still pittance)

I use 'was' because I walked out of the job 10 min after the shop was opened. Heh heh. Blame it on very bad coordination amongst staff and fussy bossy supervisors who think that they are the best. Heh!

I prefer promoter jobs much much more. More pay, same race of people, same frequency, and best of all more flexibility. :D

Thank goodness I walked out of that mundane boring job.

Change

The past 2-3 weeks have been very eventful.

1. I made my first overseas trip to phuket thailand :D (singapore doesnt count)
2. I went for my first job interview at one u n successfully got a place. :D
3. I underwent a promoter job for 3 days in a hypermarket :D

$$$$$ *money cashes in sound*

p/s: whoever knows of any good agent or any roadshow or event going to be held at one u or curve or midvalley tell me can? :D im free till august

Happy Birthday Phang Kit! And a belated birthday shoutout to Harold - both dear dear friends of mine :)*hearts*

______________________________________________________________________________________

This morning i woke up at 8 to watch the American Idol Final Result show.

What a BORING show it was - somehow it lacked the atmosphere of previous idol finale results show. It started going downhill from that margaret fowler smooch with a surprised ryan seacrest which left him disgusted and disorientated after that. You could see his energy turn into disgust. It also spoiled my appetite, by the way.

Even the appearances of kelly clarkson, greenday and carrie underwood didnt save the show from boring me. I even found greenday's performance boring - maybe it was just the boring song that had the lead singer of greenday belting out a flat song with repeated lyrics. I thought the song was never going to end. What irked me the most was the lack of focus on the final 2 contestants, blake and jordin, and the LONG COMMERCIAL BREAK after EACH PERFORMANCE. Well yea, the show memang out to gain money from commercial breaks, but you dont have to make it THIS OBVIOUS.

But well, that being said, yay for Jordin! I think it was a good thing Blake din win, cos if he did he'll have to have that 'This is Now' song which doesnt suit him at all for his first single. That would be disastrous.

Wednesday, May 23, 2007

You know, I really really try to be a good friend.

I really really try to keep in touch with all my dear darling frens, but somehow the response i get from the ppl i try to keep in touch with are all cold responses cos everyone's just so caught up with life and so busy to bother.

Kinda depressing, aint it?

That's why I'm super touched when old friends just take the trouble to msg me and ask me how i am..or like you know say hi once in a while. Its really good to know all my friends havent forgotten me :)

Thanks to all those who bother to remember me and to keep in touch :)

Blake vs Jordin in the finals!

Gonna be real fun to watch - I love them both. Blake's real original and come on, which girl doesnt like him? =p Jordin's voice is just really clear and sweet and real pleasant to hear.

Who's going to win? I'd vote for both lol.

For the past few days, every night before i sleep, my thoughts will go to Madeleine McCann, the poor little girl that was abducted from her family in Portugal.

I hope that she's still alive and well, and that the police will get their breakthrough lead REAL SOON and find her real real soon.

Bloody abductors. You think breaking up a family's happiness is so fun huh?! wait till somebody does it to someone you care about! Then you know what karma means!

*seethes with rage*

......

Anyway. It's been 8 days since home sweet home. And in this 8 days ive fallen sick with fever, flu, and cough, and fell down and grazed my right knee. And gotten real real real bored at home and slept like a pig.

Figures i nid to find something to do real soon before my brain starts to rot, if it hasnt already rotted.

Maybe i'll get a job..a nicer one that harold's =p. See first lah, if i do get one then it'll be one month of holidays down the drain, and that sounds rather wasteful of my holidays.

hmmmmm. anyone game to go out?

Total body workout day

my back hurts. my arms hurt. my legs hurt...ughhh...total agony >.<

I had an amazing 12 hour workout today =p It started when i woke up at 10...ate breakfast and made a trip to the office to enquire bout Kang's mysterious self-disappearing palm. Then walked to science to have my yummy stingray + vege + rice, went to co-op and successfully obtained 5 small boxes.

Came back to room, started putting all my textbooks into the boxes...filled up all d 5 boxes. Spent another hour heaving d boxes one by one into the luggage storage space that is SO FAR AWAY. one box must have weighed bout 15 kg >.< luckily i have abdomen strength, if not by now my arms die adi =p

After Phoebe the great manages to put all 5boxes into the luggage storage space, she then feels extremely lazy to pack summore and decides to reward her hardwork by making a trip to orchard. She opens her email, and gleefully she finds a borders coupon waiting to be printed in her email! :) Unfortunately, her printer is now packed nicely in a box in a warehouse. So she made a trip to science library, happily printed out the voucher, walked back to pgp to take btc1 and subsequently 171 to orchard. In her mind was a focused image: Sophie Kinsella's shopaholic and baby. She's waited OH SO LONG to get her hands on the book, and finally she has a 35% off coupon for the hard-cover book :D

Upon reaching orchard, phoebe's stomach started to growl. So she went to wisma atria for a meal, which did not completely satisfy her hunger. Her roving eye spied a jollibean counter nearby, where she subsequently ordered an extremely yummy papaya soymilk milkshake *beams* which is as yummy and scrumpdidlycious as it sounds :D Blissfully satisfied, phoebe continues her journey towards obtaining her much-anticipated novel.

She gets sidetracked by a shop where she buys 2 EXTREMELY PRETTY necklaces and a super great duper suitable sweet gift for her mom for Mother's day! :D So happy.

*switches back to 1st person mode*

I am SO DISAPPOINTED AT BORDERS. SO DISAPPOINTED. The last time i checked, they had TONS OF SHOPAHOLIC AND BABY. and just now, when i went there, they had one miserable cover-bent book which costed more than i remembered. *SIGHS* And dunno when new stock coming in too! Eesh. And Lisa Jewell's 31 dream street and one-hit wonder was also SO EXPENSIVE....so after spending an hour in borders, I went back empty-handed lest buns for tmr's meals.

had to wait for the 2 buses for like 45 min...zzz. So bored of late buses. Got back at bout 9.45 pm, legs were feeling damn tired adi lol.Stood the whole day except for sitting in buses.

Tmr still have to do laundry..another heavy thing to carry for quite a distance and back....and pack summore then MEET MY PARENTS YAY! AND THEN GO AND EAT LA MIEN AND XIAO LONG BAO YAY! *looks fwd to dinner*

Just now whilst on the bus returning to uni hostel, the 'so you think you can dance' show was screening on the bus mini-tv.

What the judge meant after the performance: the performance was totally hot!

What he said: that was global warming!

GLOBAL WARMING?!

*sniggers and laughs out loud at the lameness of it all*

Countdown!

I'm suchh a lazy blogger :P

That's why I'm still amazed that people still take the trouble to come n read this page :P

To all my readers, thanks for dropping by! :P

And so I went back to KL last week all hush-hushedly. I din really tell anyone that I went back cos I had to study for this week's finals :P So unsociable, no? :P

Coincidentally, my grandparents made a trip to KL around the same time that I did :D I heart my grandparents :D THey're the best grandparents ever (: So I had a fair amount of yummy good scrumptious food before leaving for Sg again last fri.

Mon tues wed was absolute madness - 3 successive papers in a row! *faints*

However, phoebe the great as usual manages to pull it off and am quite satisfied with my performance in all 3 papers :D Next thurs will be biostatistics which I'm realllyyy left far far behind in lectures and then it's HOME SWEET HOME ONCE AGAIN!!! *beams with delight*

This time it'll be a THREE MONTH HOLIDAY AHAHHAHAA. I never had a THREE MONTH HOLIDAY BEFORE in my whole entire life so this is so so so cool! :D

What If?

While studying today, my mind kinda snapped back into time for a while.

If certain things did not happen the way they did, would I be who I am now, would my life and group of friends still be the same?

Haha.

Still, some things have occured without me understanding why they occured. The 'why' it occured still puzzles me :P

*snaps back to present*

I guess I shall just be happy and contented with who I am now and not dwell on the past =p

I've always dreamt to go to Disneyland ever since i was a little girl :D

And now couples (and gays) can marry fairy-tale style in the Happiest Land on Earth! :D:D:D

Soo romantic. :)

I feel like a little girl all over again *dreams of princesses and fairy godmothers and happy-ever-after endings*

Friday, April 06, 2007

Three words sums it all:

Home SWEET Home.

Whoohoo! :D

Food food food food yummy glorious food yum yum and lovely markets yay.

Now the question is..

Should I go back for reading week and study at home and eat good home cooked food or stay cooped up in the small miserable oven-like room in the hostel and eat bao for dinner everyday and study non stop till i become a zombie?

Lol.

Two tests down and 1 more to go before home sweet home! :D

I'm also proud to say that I've finished my Carbon Nanotubes Term Paper!

*applause for rajin Phoebe*

THank you thank you thank you.

Last friday I had this biodiversity field trip to the SINGAPORE ZOO!!! *beams in glee* I havent been there since I was a small little girl, and I ALWAYS love going to zoos and bird parks and theme parks :D

And this time it's free too! :)

Of course, my cam batt just had to die after i just took a few pics :(

Thank goodness there was one kind hearted fella who agreed to send me pics of d animals he took :D

Pics and more details up soon! Now to ace this final test first before going home home home :)

Oh, and one more thing...

I absolutely heart Chris Daughtry's voice and his songs and his new album :D

*heartheartheart*

Saturday, March 24, 2007

I think that when I'm thirty (shucks wanted to say twenty then realised im turning 20 this year(!)..how old sounding.) and having(possibly) my own family, I'll still be keeping in touch with my high school friends.

All my friends from form 1-form 5 and a few from taylor's college and primary skul.

Cos you know what?

Uni frens just "cant seem to make it" (singlish..lol). There's like a barrier in between..or the walls of friendship are thin that a tiny tiny misunderstanding will just crumble the whole thing. In other words, there's not enough trust.

*shakes head*

I wish that I can teleport myself to KL right now! now now now hmph. Or maybe have a super smart double to do all my upcoming tests and ace them and then i'll be like at the top of the bell curve! *grins*
Just when things are starting to settle down and I think that I still have a lonnngggg way to go (a month) before the finals start,

Prof from human anatomy lab: All the best for your CA (test) NEXT THURSDAY (eek!)
Prof from biodiversity: All the best for your CA on April 3rd (double eek!)
Prof from Biochemistry: Good luck for your CA NEXT FRIDAY (AAGHH! *faints*)

And then Kang decides to dump me all alone here for one whole week while he takes a self-declared ONE WEEK holiday to go back to msia ( thank you eu harn for encouraging him to do this, you know what you owe me! *glares*)

Eesh.

And now I have to do a term paper for the Introduction to Nanoworld which is like 30 pages!!!

%$@!#

Eesh. Now to do laundry.

Wednesday, March 21, 2007

Hmm i dunno bout you, but this new GM glow in the dark mosquitoe to eradicate malaria seems a bit creepy.

It has twice the survival rate of its normal counterparts, and can breed twice as much too, meaning that the population of mosquitoes will hence double once this GM mosquitoe takes over the normal Anopheles spesies of mosquitoes.

Glow in the dark?! How would you feel if you switched off the lights and see 2 glow in the dark stuff flying around? I suppose that would make them easier to swat >.<

And I suppose its a very good way to eradicate malaria..if nothing goes wrong.

But somehow its like interfering with evolution and the normal life cycle and food pyramid etc.

Hmm.

WISHLIST

I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT THIS BOOK!!! But currently the price of the hardcover version is at RM 69.90..kinda depressing. Can hardly wait for the paperback version to come out :)

I heart shopaholic novels :D Yay.
Everytime i go back HOME and unwillingly drag myself back to this depressing country, I'm overcome by an intense feeling of homesick-ness and loneliness. :(

Then it lasts for a few days and I start to become numb to the feeling -- until the next return and the next dragging myself back, where the feeling is triggered all over again.

Funny thing is, no one else seems to be as affected as I am while travelling back and forth. Hrm.

Yes I'm rather emotional :P And yes my mind always wanders and think of extreme stuff which can be quite depressing. :P

So now I'm back here again (sigh), I had the opportunity to meet up with Chris (Lim) yesterday :)

As I've mentioned in previous posts, it's really great to catch up with old frens, especially with a close fren such as Chris.

We met at Orchard (where Kang n I had a yummy sakae sushi lunch..yum) before heading off to Bugis. Bugis is this place with a market which looks like petaling street...but of cos i still prefer the ACTUAL night markets at home. Soo much better and so much more variety in the stuff that they sell. We saw this fella sitting on the floor with 3 snakes lying obediently (motionless except for a few minor slinky-segment movement) in front of him, and he started boasting about how snake oil, if applied onto the proper areas, can ward off athritis. Hmmm. Quite a number of ppl bought the snake oil from him.

Anyway chris, if you do read this post, good luck for your uni applications :) I'm sure u'll get what you want hehehe. Remember to keep me updated k? Was really great seeing you again :)
*pokes affectionately*

Take care everyone!

Friday, March 09, 2007

I din come back to see you so sick , force-feed you some honey and then let you die in my hands.

Hmph!

Going to meet up with cj n fook yit later, yay. And eat bah kut teh!

Wednesday, March 07, 2007

Tell you what, I liked it better back then.

Where it was all simple and nice.

B
efore pressure of doing things kicked in.

Are you that happy? Is this so important?

I can't help but feel that you're missing a major point here.

Thank you for spoiling my whole night.

Tuesday, March 06, 2007

You know, next time if there's an earthquake in the middle of the night, I probably wouldn't know it until its too late.

This morning 2 earthquakes struck Sumatra, apparently it was felt pretty big in Singapore, where ppl were evacuated from the buildings and so forth. The 1st earthquake was about 10.50 am.

And what was i doing then?

I was happily munching on my lunch in my room listening to music and reading my novel. Nope I din feel any tremor or swaying.

I remember last year(or last last year) there was another earthquake in Indon, and ppl in kl districts felt it too and came running out of the buildings. I din feel anything too!!!

So next time if any earthquakes occur and its absolutely necessary to evacuate the buildings...someone inform me yeah. Hehe.
Whoohoo!!

Midterms and quizzes all over yeah :)

Going back to Msia for a short trip this Thurs!

Oh yeah :) Life is great!

CNY 2007

Needless to say, this CNY was again well spent with family and relatives :)

I love going back to Swak now and mix around with all my dear wonderful cuzzies :D
Fireworks makes it all the more festive! :D

I had so much fun during the 5 days there. Was kinda sad to go back to KL. I always hate saying goodbyes.

Which makes me wonder, will things be the same ten years from now? Will we all still flock back for reunion dinner every year? Will everyone still be here? It's these depressing thoughts that swarms you when you say goodbye.

So I went back to KL. I went pasar-malam and morning market crazy!! I craved to drink the black sesame dessert lol :P But due to CNY season, the dessert stalls at the night markets and morning markets all werent open!!!! :(

Potong steam sial. Hmph.

Then Sunday came. I really wasnt ready to go back to Singapore then. I REALLY REALLY DIN WANNA GO BACK. hmph. So i burned 60 ringgit by not taking the bus back! :P I went back on Monday instead bleh. Sunday night met up with CJ You Bing Zhimin TJ Jia Wei Jeng Sia, altho it was a brief meet, it's really great to meet up with old frens and feel that warm friendly ambience which you rarely get here in Sg. Bah.

So now I'm back here..I had a hellish week. 4 tests which i barely studied for. So basically everyday I was busy cramming for the test on the next day. The friday test, today's one..was bad :( BAD BAD BAD. HORRIBLE. And the worst part is I noe how to do it. The question was SO SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!! I MEMANG NOE HOW TO DO ONE!!!! Geramnya. My brain was too taxed out. Sigh. SUmmore i woke up at 5am to study.

Sucks.

I want to go home. Suddenly Monash and Nottingham Msia and IMU and MU seem wonderful unis :P I def wont mind studying there :P Or at HELP actually. Then I will be damn relaxed and can watch series everyday!!!! Right Cj? :P:P:P

Lol.

Tuesday, February 13, 2007

Recently, I stumbled upon this blog called loopymeals. Click it from Darell's blog! (Cos im too lazy to put the link here lol)

You know, its so unfair that gals have to be the one suffering during pregnancy.

They have to vomit everyday, puke every morning, get damn uncomfy, get damn lot of mood swings, and then experience excruciating pain during childbirth.

You know, guys should have their own babies.

Then I'll be the one standing beside and taking videos and giving encouraging comments and going *GaspGasp* I'm going to be a parent!!!!!!! *Faints*

Guys can be the one dying.

Heh!

Only Four Days left till I get back and see you.

Till I get to hold you again and take good care of you.

Till I get to look into your darling cute eyes and see you look up at me inquisitively.

Till I feed you sticks of nutritious healthy food +a variety of scrumptious fruits.

We've been separated for one month and 2 weeks.

You've fought it for one month and 3 weeks.

Why couldnt you wait for another 4 or 5 more days?

Why did you have to go? :((((

Perhaps deep in my heart I knew it when I bade you farewell 1 month and 2 weeks ago.

When I carefully wrapped you in tissue and watched you close your darling eyes and sleep peacefully while undertaking the 5 hour journey back home.

Deep inside, I knew that I wouldnt see you again.

But I also believed that you could overcome this deadly disease.

You did fight it, like a warrior. You're so strong and brave and tough.

Your death was so swift and sudden.

I'm so sorry my dear darling terrapin. Perhaps if I left you here in Singapore with me you would still be alive.

Who knows? :((

Rest in peace darling.

Presenting...

Ahahaha. I heart Robert Ludlum's Covert-One series XD.

There was this stall in the bazaar in NUS that was selling SUPER CHEAP 2nd hand books. 3 books for S$5, damn cheap~! *Sighs in contentment*

I bought this brand new Robert Ludlum book for S$5.90. Ah Bliss :)

Today I had the BORINGEST practical ever. PLANTS practical. I can tolerate plants but omg three whole hours of it? My brain seriously went pfft.

There were 10 stations where each station was a different kingdom - algae, fungi, lichens, ferns, angiosperms, gymnosperms and dunno wtv else lah. By the 4th station my brain oso half shut down already. Cannot tahan man. Should have just followed a friend, take attendance then leave the lab. lol.

Thursday, February 08, 2007

PLANTS ARE SO BORING.

Or rather, BIODIVERSITY IS SO BORING.

Ascomycetes. Basidiomycetes. zygomycetes. chytridiomycetes.

All in the fungi kingdom. kingdom or domain? I dunno.

wth!!!! who came up with all these complicated names!!

zzzz *falls asleep*

Nostalgia

Everyday before I sleep, my mind starts to drift. I see my past flashing before my eyes ( maybe this is wat ppl see before they die too lol ), but wat I glimpse is somebody that was once a very super good fren of mine. Then I suddenly remember the times in secondary skul and college. How we sat together in f1 and u would lend me ure pilot g-1 pen, sports day, merentas desa, how we squiggled smileys on each other's paper, joked bout all the teachers, had secret codes when we called each other up.

Ahahaha. Is this going to be another emo post? I dunno why my mind keeps drifting back :) Prob cos I treasure my frens so much :P

Lets see. I rmbed christopher, sing ping, jia xin, allan, chang jin, jess, harold, hui ying, joel, phang kit, and who know who im going to rmb today haha.

And during classes when I start drawing smileys on my paper I remember jia xin the most.

Sometimes I wish that I could go back to the past. Or maybe if the world wasnt so big, everyone would still be together. Haha.

1st Field Trip

For my first biodiversity field trip, we went to the kent ridge road which is in the NUS area. The road kinda reminds me of Kiara actually, cos its flanked by a secondary forest beside it.

Overall it was quite fun, where we learnt how to differentiate figs, pitcher plants..etc. But i'm not a plant person haha. Plants arent really in my field of interest. I hope that I can quickly finish this biodiversity module and never take anymore plants modules. Bleh.

The Raffles Musuem of Biodiversity Research was kinda interesting tho. There was a display of real fossils, but not much. We saw stuffed animals...dead animals preserved in formalin, and right up front was a display of the replica of a dodo.

For those who dont know wat a dodo is, well you wont have the chance to see it on the streets or forests anymore cos its an extinct bird. It's sort of a mix between a bird and a turkey. And yea, it can't fly.

What hit me in the musuem was that the future generation might not even get the chance to see animals that are common to us. So many species are now at the brink of extinction. One example is the panda bear. Who knows, animals in the future could be defined as stuffed toys that are displayed in museums.

Which reminds me of global warming. And Bird Flu. And who knows SARS might pop up again. To quote my biochem professor who once taught in Harvard and is a member of the WHO : " We're just waiting for the bird flu to clear up the whole world. Those that survives will form the next new generation."

Scary, and might sound satrical to you, but still, there is a possibility of that happening.

So if today was ure last day on Earth, what would you be doing? Would you like what you are spending your time on?

*deep in thought*

ANYWAY. I want to gripe a bit :P Our teaching assistant for the biodiversity field trip was a japanese. So her language wasnt that awesome, and she got some facts wrong too. Who knows after the trip there's a mcq quiz. Thanks to her wrong facts i got 1 out of 5 correct. *stares daggers*

Gram Negative Bacteria.

Many species of this stupid gram -ve bacteria are pathogenic, meaning they can cause disease in a host organism. This pathogenic capability is usually associated with certain components of Gram-negative cell walls, in particular the lipopolysaccharide (also known as LPS or endotoxin) layer.

Well. One of my cute baby terrapins have succumbed after a one month long courageous fight for its life. In the end the stupid bacteria caused more than one disease, including soft shell, swollen eyes, respiratory tract diseases, and skin diseases. You stupid bacteria.

One day im going to devise this drug to penetrate that stupid lipid bilayer membrane of yours and kill all of you off.

My dear darling terrapin, may you rest in peace. I'll always love you.

I really am very super lucky and blessed.

When I asked for a type B room (with sink), there was a space for me in PGPR, one of the residences at the university. Who would know that a girl living opposite me is also in Life Science and doing 3 modules that are the same as mine? Who would predict that we would start going out together for shopping trips and going around campus together? Who would know that I would fit so easily into her group of friends?

:D

Haha. Yay. :D

Dear Friend.

Even though we're so far apart now,

Do you still think of me once in a while?
Are you still reminded of me occasionally?
Do you remember..
How we swam together in kindergarden?
How you wrote a note to me in standard one?
How we converted our pencilboxes into houses in class during primary school?
How we spent every recess together?
The time we spent together on my 12th birthday?
The time I had to go to your house everyday during the early years of secondary school?
The time where we first met?
The time where we first started to talk?
The time you taught me how to play cards?
How I assured you that everything was going to be alright?
The time you came to my house and we had such a blast?
All the movie + other outings together?
How you gave me advice on every little thing?
How you were always there when I needed someone to talk to?
How we held hands?
The nicknames we gave each other?
The firsts?
How you held my hand to comfort me?
The times in tuition?
How we sticked together through thick and thin?
The surprise of meeting each other in random places?
Discovering each other's likes and dislikes?
How we patched things up and started talking again?
All the sports we played together?
All the jokes and bullying?
How you were always there no matter what?
The time we sat down in MPH and read shopaholic novels?
How we went diving together?
How we swapped clothes?
How you encouraged me to pierce my ears?
Listening to my complaints and every other thing?
How we shared songs?

Do you?

Do you still remember me?

Cos I still remember you, all of you, from my childhood friends up till my friends of today.

I cherish all of you. Deep down in my heart you will always be there.

Sometimes we are too caught up in the daily hustle and bustle of life that we take for granted everything that we currently have. Isn't it ironic that some people have to struggle every single minute of the day for survival, perhaps from a deadly disease, whereas some perfectly healthy people curse and swear at every tiny obstacle thrown at them, or a healthy individual ends his life due to some tiny problem currently faced?

It's time we reflect on how lucky we are to be healthy and alive.

Student Exchange Programme?

Does going overseas for one semester broaden your horizons and make you a more intelligent and knowledgeable person?

My observations on friends who went overseas to pursue tertiary studies.
UK: Clubbing + miss home + profs with funny accents
US: miss home
Aus: Miss home

Well. Some friends came back still the same. Some came home wilder. Some were pretty much westernized completely.

Or is it about expanding networks?

So you go there, struggle to settle in for 2 weeks, after 2 weeks of homesick-ness, settle for 3 months, and come back?

And everyone noes i get damn homesick.

Haha. From my tone you can see that I'm not that interested. We shall see. After all im planning to do my masters overseas anyway. And i'm adi in top 20 uni in the world. Professors are great.

What's there to complain?

2007. New start, New course, New University.

*rewinds clock to 16 days ago*

HAPPY 2007!!!!

*Fireworks burst non stop in the night sky*

okay that was lame =p

The first major change for the year 2007 was the change of university and course.

Old: NTU, Bioengineering
New: NUS, Life Science, tentatively Concentration in biomedical science and (?) cell and molecular biology

Yep. I decided that I wasn't the type who loves numbers and can do crazy calculations in my head and stun everyone with immediate answers together with solved complicated equations :D

What's different in NUS: The lecturers and the people. Back in NTU, you get mostly china lecturers who cant reli lecture cos their language is well, not good at all to be frank. Sometimes you even wonder whether they know what they're lecturing. Here at NUS, you get wonderful professors. :D Even those from china are good at what they are teaching, and they are understandable in terms of accent and language. (Hooray!)And back in NTU, you hear singlish and indonesian language everywhere you go. Here, you still get that singlish but not in that overwhelming sense, if you catch my drift. They are LOTS of exchange students here ( a lot of hot ones too XD ) and..campus life is more vibrant here. Definitely.

Oh, and I must eat less and exercise more boohoo. Buses are here to make ure life easy so you dun have to climb slopes and stairs like when I was in NTU.

Food stalls: More good food!! :D Tho I miss the desserts stall in NTU tee hee. The dessert stall here's quite good, but the taste a bit different.

Workload: Ahahahahah. NO MORE ENGINEERING MATHS. *sniggers.

Practicals: SOooo much more interesting. Last thursday i went to the dissection hall and saw and touched cadavers(dead ppl). The medic students peeled off their skins and reli dissected them so you can see all the inner organs. The formalin smell was a bit too much for my nose...and my appetite wavered a bit, but all in all, it was fine.

Room: Hrm. My NTU room was brand spanking new..so its like bit downgraded. But upgraded to a single room instead of a double room. After cleaning up and putting in some design to my room, I love it! :)

Proximity to city: NUS is so much closer to the city! :) Instead of a 1 hour and half journey..It's only around 40 min!

Time to go for class. Toodles.
